Candidates ideally bring a strong background in supporting students with hearing challenges and are passionate about inclusive education. Youll have the opportunity to develop and deliver individualized instruction tailored to each students learning style, ensuring they receive the resources and advocacy they need for success.
Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
- Previous experience working within a school setting, preferably with K-12 students
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods commonly used with DHH students
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to develop and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing impairments using evidence-based strategies
- Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet individual student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and progress monitoring
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student confidence
- Advocate for accessible educational opportunities and resources for all DHH learners
