Job Description

Make a difference in students lives by providing specialized instruction as a full-time Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in an elementary school setting. This contract opportunity involves supporting a small caseload of 5 students, allowing for individualized attention and tailored instructional strategies. Work closely with a supportive educational team dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for young learners.

Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Proven experience or training in working with elementary-aged students
  • Deep understanding of language acquisition and communication techniques for deaf or hard of hearing students
  • Strong collaboration skills to coordinate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Ability to design and implement personalized education plans
  • Commitment to adhering to current educational standards and best practices for special education

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet each students unique learning needs
  • Monitor and document student progress, updating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as required
  • Serve as an advocate and resource for students communication and accessibility needs
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including speech pathologists and audiologists
  • Communicate regularly with families to foster student growth and engagement
  • Participate in professional development and stay current on best practices in the field
