Job Description

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience (student teaching or professional) working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in educational settings
  • Proficient in using assistive listening devices and adaptive technology
  • Strong communication skillsboth spoken and sign language proficiency preferred
  • Collaborative, flexible, and dedicated to meeting diverse student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction in language and academic subjects, adapting materials to meet individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Foster accessible classroom environments by supporting use of FM systems and other assistive devices
  • Partner with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to promote inclusion and student success
  • Monitor student progress, maintaining detailed records and reporting outcomes to educational teams and families
  • Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expertise to help shape appropriate goals and accommodations
  • Advocate for student access, ensuring equal participation and engagement across curricular and extracurricular activities
