Job Description
Make an extraordinary impact by empowering students with hearing differences as a dedicated educator in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing specialty. This is an in-person, contract role, offering you the opportunity to work closely with students, staff, and families through a leading school district near Bessemer, AL. The position begins as soon as possible and runs through June 2027, providing a long-term, stable environment to build meaningful connections and foster student progress.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification and/or teaching license as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Instructor
- Endorsement or additional certifications specific to Deaf/Hard of Hearing education required
- Previous teaching experience with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students preferred
- Ability to effectively use various communication modalities, including American Sign Language (ASL)
- Strong collaboration with educational teams and families
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students identified as Deaf or Hard of Hearing across various grade levels
- Develop, implement, and adjust Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in coordination with IEP teams
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote accessibility and inclusion
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction strategies to maximize engagement and achievement
- Advocate for student needs and support transition planning when appropriate
This full-time opportunity consists of 37 hours weekly on site, giving you the chance to truly immerse yourself in the school community and make a lasting difference in students lives. Specific caseload details will be shared during the interview process.
