Job Description

This full-time, onsite opportunity offers the chance to work directly with students, families, and team members, providing vital educational support and advocacy. Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Current Illinois Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) License is required
  • State-specific certification (PEL or equivalent as mandated)
  • Previous experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in educational settings preferred
  • Skilled in designing and delivering tailored instructional strategies
  • Ability to travel between locations within the district as needed for itinerant services
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support to students with varying degrees of hearing loss across multiple schools
  • Assess educational needs and adapt curriculum to ensure student access to classroom content
  • Work closely with general education teachers, interpreters, and special education staff
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes communication and self-advocacy for students
  • Collaborate with families to set goals, monitor progress, and support educational plans
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in meetings regarding student progress and services
