Job Description

Step into a rewarding role supporting high school-aged students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a contract position near Joliet and Aurora, IL. Your expertise will make a real difference as you collaborate with fellow educators, engage with individualized education plans (IEPs), and create inclusive classroom experiences. This position is structured with regular hours from 7:30am to 3pm, providing a consistent workday and chance to connect meaningfully with your students.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with high school students in educational settings
  • Strong knowledge of strategies for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction, including assistive technologies and communication modalities (ASL, Signed English, etc.)
  • Ability to adapt curriculum for individual student needs and learning styles
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with other educators, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in high school settings
  • Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Integrate technology and visual tools to support learning accessibility
  • Facilitate effective communication and advocate for students needs within the school community
  • Monitor student progress, maintaining detailed records and documentation
