Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state licensure or certification for teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field
  • Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a school setting
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and proficiency in communication modalities used by D/HH students
  • Strong advocacy skills and commitment to individualized instructional strategies
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, parents, and support personnel

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across grade levels
  • Adapt and modify curriculum based on individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Foster an accessible, supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement
  • Monitor student progress and conduct evaluations to inform instruction
  • Participate in IEP meetings, sharing insights and collaborating on educational planning
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students, families, and staff on Deaf/Hard of Hearing education and accessibility
  • Provide training and support to staff on effective communication strategies and accommodations
