Key Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure or certification for teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and proficiency in communication modalities used by D/HH students
- Strong advocacy skills and commitment to individualized instructional strategies
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, parents, and support personnel
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across grade levels
- Adapt and modify curriculum based on individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Foster an accessible, supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement
- Monitor student progress and conduct evaluations to inform instruction
- Participate in IEP meetings, sharing insights and collaborating on educational planning
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students, families, and staff on Deaf/Hard of Hearing education and accessibility
- Provide training and support to staff on effective communication strategies and accommodations
