Key Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or related field (required)
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (required)
- Experience working with K-12 students with hearing loss in classroom or resource settings
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signing Exact English (SEE), as specified by student needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Committed to inclusive, student-centered instruction and ongoing professional development
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), monitor progress, and adjust strategies as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech pathologists, and other specialists to ensure accessible learning environments
- Advocate for appropriate accommodations, technology supports, and classroom modifications
- Actively participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and professional learning activities
- Serve as a resource for school staff and families on best practices for supporting students with hearing loss
