A specialized educational opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing in Atlanta, GA. This contract position involves working within a school setting to support students with hearing impairments by providing tailored instructional strategies and communication methods.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Utilize specialized teaching techniques to enhance language development and auditory skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive student support
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods as needed
- Facilitate communication between students, families, and educational teams
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of assistive technologies and educational resources for hearing-impaired students
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure to teach students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of audiology, language development, and communication modalities (e.g., sign language)
- Ability to design and implement effective instructional strategies tailored to individual student needs
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
