Make a difference each day working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing supporting students growth and inclusion in a welcoming school environment near Atlanta, GA. This contract opportunity allows you to collaborate closely with students, families, and staff, ensuring all learners have the tools they need to succeed both academically and socially.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology, communication strategies, and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Ability to adapt instructional methods for varying communication modes, such as ASL, spoken language, and cued speech
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Dedication to empowering students through accessible curriculum and personalized support
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional services and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals in partnership with educational staff and families
- Consult with classroom teachers and related service providers to optimize learning experiences
- Support students in the development of language, literacy, and social skills
- Use and teach a range of communication tools and assistive devices
- Advocate for a positive, inclusive, and accessible learning environment
- Maintain documentation and participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development
