Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
• Strong understanding of assistive technology and auditory/oral, total communication, or American Sign Language (ASL) methodologies
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with students, families, and school staff
• Ability to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Adaptability and creative problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instructional services to students based on IEP goals and individual needs
• Utilize a variety of communication modalities and instructional strategies to support student learning
• Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to create an inclusive classroom environment
• Support students in accessing curricular content and developing social, self-advocacy, and communication skills
• Conduct assessments and regularly monitor student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
• Offer consultation and training to staff and families to enhance understanding of hearing loss and effective strategies
