Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a dynamic school setting near Atlanta, GA. This contract role offers the opportunity to work closely with students, families, and school staff to foster academic success, communication skills, and confidence for deaf and hard-of-hearing learners.
Preferred candidates will bring a strong understanding of educational best practices for students with hearing differences and demonstrate compassion in their approach.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state requirements must be met)
- Previous experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of auditory/oral methods
- Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans to accommodate individual learning needs
- Strong organizational, communication, and advocacy skills
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging instruction tailored to the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to support inclusion and access
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide support with assistive listening devices and classroom accommodations
- Foster positive relationships with students and their families
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as necessary
- Advocate for accessibility and resources to promote student success
