Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or special education with relevant endorsements
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school-based setting
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and communication methods (such as ASL, signed English, or auditory/oral approaches)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary educational teams
- Comfortable developing and adapting Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in deaf education
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, individually or in small groups
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each students unique needs
- Support classroom teachers with resources, modifications, and strategies to ensure an inclusive learning environment
- Advocate for students, ensuring equitable access to educational materials and participation in school activities
- Serve as a liaison between families, staff, and external resources to enhance student success
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional methods as needed
