Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teacher certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with students with hearing impairments, preferably in school settings
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
- Familiarity with current technologies and assistive devices for deaf/hard of hearing students
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational abilities
- Strong commitment to fostering accessible and inclusive learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting general education curriculum to meet their individual needs
- Use sign language, spoken language, or a combination, depending on each students communication needs
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other school professionals to implement best practices and support academic and social growth
- Develop and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students, including goal-setting and progress tracking
- Advocate for accommodations and supports to ensure accessibility across all school settings
- Provide consultation and training for school staff and families regarding hearing loss, communication modalities, and inclusive strategies
