Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Hold appropriate certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain it
  • Strong understanding of hearing loss, assistive technology, and communication strategies in classroom settings
  • Proficiency in sign language (ASL, SEE, or similar) and/or cued speech methods is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience delivering instruction and accommodations to students with varying levels of hearing loss
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other educational professionals, support staff, and parents
  • Excellent organizational skills and commitment to individualized education planning

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing within their least restrictive environment
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to implement appropriate adaptations and modifications
  • Develop, update, and monitor progress on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies and assistive technologies to maximize student learning and communication access
  • Serve as a resource for staff regarding best practices for accessible instruction
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom climate where all students are supported
