Ideal candidates will possess:
- Certification in Deaf Education or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing credentials
- Strong knowledge of auditory/oral, total communication, or American Sign Language (ASL) instructional strategies
- Experience working with students varying in age, language modalities, and hearing needs
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with educators, therapists, and families
- Patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm for encouraging student success
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing direct and consultative instructional services to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in individual and small group settings
- Designing engaging lessons that adapt the general education curriculum to meet student needs
- Collaborating with classroom teachers and other school staff to support student inclusion
- Monitoring student progress, maintaining accurate records, and participating in IEP meetings
- Supporting families with resources and strategies for continued learning at home
- Advocating for accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all students
