Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
- Experience adapting curriculum and instruction to meet sensory and communication needs
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities as needed
- Ability to conduct assessments and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with assistive technology and educational accommodations
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, individually or in small groups
- Customize educational materials, using a variety of communication methods, technologies, and visual supports
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to implement effective accommodations
- Monitor student progress and maintain thorough, timely documentation for reporting and compliance
- Engage with families, providing insights and strategies to support learning and communication at home
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure cohesive educational planning
