Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Bachelors degree or higher in Deaf Education or a related field
- Demonstrated experience delivering instruction to deaf or hard of hearing students
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, families, and school staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing loss, adapting curriculum to meet diverse needs
- Facilitate communication access and support, using ASL, spoken language, or other appropriate methods
- Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress toward goals
- Consult with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to establish inclusive, supportive learning environments
- Offer recommendations for assistive technology and classroom accommodations
- Engage in ongoing professional development and keep current with best practices in Deaf Education
