Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
- Strong communication skills across various modalities
- Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet individual student needs
- Team-oriented mindset and commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom
- Experience with IEP development and implementation is desirable
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction designed to meet the educational needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Work collaboratively with other special education staff, general educators, and support personnel
- Develop and modify lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning styles and language abilities
- Provide support and resources for families and regular education teachers
- Monitor and document student progress toward individualized goals
- Participate in IEP meetings, student assessments, and regular team meetings
- Advocate for accessibility and the use of assistive technology in the classroom
