Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills across various modalities
  • Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet individual student needs
  • Team-oriented mindset and commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom
  • Experience with IEP development and implementation is desirable

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction designed to meet the educational needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Work collaboratively with other special education staff, general educators, and support personnel
  • Develop and modify lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning styles and language abilities
  • Provide support and resources for families and regular education teachers
  • Monitor and document student progress toward individualized goals
  • Participate in IEP meetings, student assessments, and regular team meetings
  • Advocate for accessibility and the use of assistive technology in the classroom
