Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related area
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
  • Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Previous experience in a school setting preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with hearing impairments in a variety of settings (individual, small group, inclusion)
  • Assess students skills and adjust teaching strategies for maximum impact
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff
  • Support the use and maintenance of assistive hearing technology and related resources
  • Develop lesson plans in alignment with IEP goals and state standards
  • Educate staff and peers about hearing loss, fostering an inclusive school culture
  • Track students progress and document achievements, challenges, and adjustments
