This contract-based opportunity is ideal for a dedicated educator who is passionate about empowering children and collaborating with diverse education teams.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related area
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing impairments in a variety of settings (individual, small group, inclusion)
- Assess students skills and adjust teaching strategies for maximum impact
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Support the use and maintenance of assistive hearing technology and related resources
- Develop lesson plans in alignment with IEP goals and state standards
- Educate staff and peers about hearing loss, fostering an inclusive school culture
- Track students progress and document achievements, challenges, and adjustments
