This contract opportunity near Atlanta, GA focuses on empowering students with hearing challenges by adapting curriculum and fostering an inclusive, supportive environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Degree in Education (Special Education, Deaf Education, or related field preferred)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modes relevant to deaf education
- Prior experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings
- Strong ability to adapt lessons and utilize assistive hearing technologies
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to each students needs
- Facilitate lessons using ASL and other appropriate modes of instruction, supporting academic and language development
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and families to optimize student progress
- Assess student performance and adjust teaching strategies to foster growth and confidence
- Serve as an advocate and resource for deaf and hard of hearing students within the school environment
- Maintain accurate records, document progress, and participate in IEP meetings
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages social and emotional well-being
