Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the Atlanta, GA area. In this contract position, youll collaborate with educators and families to provide specialized instruction and promote an accessible learning environment for students with hearing challenges. Your expertise will help ensure every student gains confidence and achieves their academic potential.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings.
- Strong knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used in deaf education.
- Ability to collaborate closely with general education teachers, special education staff, and support personnel.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Compassion and dedication to empowering students with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with hearing impairments, both individually and in groups.
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to individual student abilities and goals.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to assessment and goal setting.
- Advocate for students needs within the classroom and wider school community.
- Provide consultative support to staff and families regarding strategies, technology, and classroom modifications.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods as needed.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
