Empower students to discover their fullest potential by providing critical educational support as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract opportunity places you in a dynamic academic setting near Atlanta, GA, where you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure students receive comprehensive, individualized programming.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching credentials with certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Prior experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school environment
- Knowledge of a range of communication modalities, including sign language, spoken English, and assistive technologies
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with teachers, families, and students
- Comfortable adapting instruction to meet IEP goals and diverse learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing challenges
- Deliver direct instruction tailored to linguistic and academic abilities
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum, classroom materials, and assessments for accessibility
- Facilitate the use of assistive listening devices and communication supports in the school setting
- Provide progress updates and recommendations to educational teams and families
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and IEP meetings as required
