Job Description

Empower students to discover their fullest potential by providing critical educational support as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching credentials with certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Prior experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school environment
  • Knowledge of a range of communication modalities, including sign language, spoken English, and assistive technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with teachers, families, and students
  • Comfortable adapting instruction to meet IEP goals and diverse learning needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing challenges
  • Deliver direct instruction tailored to linguistic and academic abilities
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum, classroom materials, and assessments for accessibility
  • Facilitate the use of assistive listening devices and communication supports in the school setting
  • Provide progress updates and recommendations to educational teams and families
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and IEP meetings as required
