Qualifications:
- Valid Teaching Certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state licensure required)
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes used by students
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt curriculum and utilize assistive technology for accessibility
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various classroom and individual settings
- Develop and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to address each students learning needs and goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to promote inclusion and accessibility
- Advocate for students academic and social needs, fostering self-advocacy skills and independence
- Offer ongoing guidance and resources to families to support student success
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings and other required documentation
