Job Description

This opportunity is seeking a skilled Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support students in a school setting located in Atlanta, GA. This contract position focuses on providing specialized instruction and tailored support for students with hearing impairments, ensuring their academic and social success in an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Utilize specialized teaching strategies and assistive technologies to enhance communication and learning
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and audiologists to support student progress
  • Monitor student outcomes and adjust instructional methods as needed
  • Provide direct instruction in communication modes such as American Sign Language (ASL) or oral/auditory approaches
  • Advocate for students' needs within the school setting and support family engagement

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with a focus on deaf/hard of hearing education or related specialization
  • Experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing in K-12 educational settings
  • Knowledge of hearing loss, amplification devices, and communication strategies
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with educators, students, and families
  • Ability to tailor instruction to meet diverse learning needs and facilitate inclusion
