Preferred Background/Skills:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state requirements apply)
• Experience working with children or adolescents in a classroom or educational setting
• Strong understanding of individual education plans (IEPs) and ability to tailor instruction
• Comfort with assistive technology, auditory/oral approaches, and/or sign language
• Effective communication and advocacy skills
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across a range of grade levels
• Adapt and modify curriculum to ensure accessibility and engagement
• Monitor progress and document student growth, participating in IEP meetings and goal setting
• Collaborate with general education teachers to foster an inclusive learning environment
• Guide and support families in understanding the educational needs of their children
• Provide professional insights and training to staff on Deaf culture, language, and accommodations
