Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or Special Education with a concentration in hearing impairments
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
- Proficiency in sign language (ASL or other communication modalities)
- Experience creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong collaboration skills for working with teachers, service providers, and families
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Assess student progress and adjust strategies for optimal learning outcomes
- Advocate for accessibility in the classroom, providing resources and training to staff as needed
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of IEPs
- Support students in developing self-advocacy skills and independence
- Collaborate with families to ensure a consistent approach between home and school
