This contract role is a rewarding opportunity to work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, guiding them toward greater communication skills, confidence, and independence while collaborating closely with educators and families.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or eligibility for endorsement
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Outstanding communication and organizational skills
- Adaptability, patience, and a student-centered mindset
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support tailored to individual student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure an inclusive classroom environment
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Advocate for students communication and accommodation needs within the school setting
- Engage with families to foster a supportive and collaborative approach to student learning
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in deaf education and participate in ongoing professional development
