Make a meaningful difference in the lives of K-12 students by supporting their educational journeys as an onsite Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work with an engaged school community near Toccoa, GA, providing expert instruction, advocacy, and support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Desired Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Georgia Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) license issued by GaPSC
- Experienced with classroom accommodations, modifications, and the implementation of IEPs for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, working with both general education staff and families
- Knowledgeable in assistive listening devices, visual communication tools, and differentiated instructional strategies
- Adaptable, patient, and dedicated to promoting student growth and inclusion
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to K-12 students, adapting lessons to individual learning needs
- Provide direct and consultative services that ensure access to curriculum and classroom participation
- Collaborate with educators, specialists, and parents to develop and implement effective learning strategies and accommodations
- Monitor student progress, maintain thorough documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Support the development of self-advocacy and communication skills in students
