Make a meaningful impact supporting K-12 students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position is ideal for passionate educators skilled in providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing differences. The role is part-time, offering approximately 10 hours per week, and while onsite presence is preferred, virtual/remote (VOCO) candidates will also be considered.
In this engaging position, youll collaborate with educators, staff, and families to create accessible, inclusive learning experiences. Your expertise will empower students to overcome barriers and thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications:
- Active Michigan teaching license for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH). [License verification may be completed through the states online portal.]
- Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related field.
- Understanding of educational technology and willingness to provide virtual instruction if needed.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Previous work with K12 populations preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to DHH students across grade levels, aligning with IEP goals.
- Assess students needs and collaborate on creating and implementing IEPs.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students, families, and staff in matters related to deafness and hearing loss.
- Consult and coordinate with classroom teachers and support personnel to ensure an equitable learning environment.
- Maintain accurate documentation on student progress, interventions, and services.
