Make a meaningful impact supporting students across an entire district as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This rewarding part-time contract position offers the opportunity to work with 8 students at various grade levels, providing specialized instruction and services tailored to their unique needs. There is a strong possibility of the role moving to full time, offering even more opportunities for professional growth.
Ideal candidates bring a passion for fostering communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and the expertise to adapt instructional strategies for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid HI (Hearing Impaired) certification
- Experience working directly with students who are deaf and/or hard of hearing
- Strong understanding of best practices in deaf education, including use of assistive technology and visual communication strategies
- Ability to collaborate with general education staff, families, and specialists
- Flexibility to support students of varying ages and skill levels districtwide
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to each students IEP and educational goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accessible learning environments
- Advocate for the needs of deaf/hard of hearing students across the district
- Maintain detailed progress notes and participate in IEP meetings
- Provide resources, guidance, and support to families and colleagues
