Job Description

A public charter school in Fitchburg, MA, is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a contract assignment during the school year. This full-time position provides an opportunity to support 11th and 12th-grade students in Chemistry within a dynamic learning environment focused on personalized education.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction in Chemistry for upper secondary students aged approximately 16-18 years.
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with paraeducators and other support staff to enhance student learning and ensure compliance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administration.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts Teaching Certification with an endorsement in Special Education.
  • Strong knowledge of Chemistry and experience teaching high school science students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
