Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a full-time Teacher of the Visually Impaired at a welcoming school near the Winterville, NC area. This contract position begins in mid-August and runs through early June, allowing you to make a significant impact during the full academic year.
Take on a critical role within a supportive district, guiding and empowering a caseload of approximately 35 students. Your expertise will provide essential educational support to children of various ages, helping them thrive academically and personally. The school assigns you to one location, encouraging strong connections with students and staff.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current North Carolina TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) certification
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired in an educational setting
- Strong communication and collaborative skills with both staff and families
- Enthusiasm for developing individualized education plans and adapting curriculum
- Dedication to advocating for accessibility and student success
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students identified as visually impaired
- Develop, implement, and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers
- Monitor and document student progress, communicating results with families and the multidisciplinary team
- Utilize a variety of adaptive materials and assistive technology
