Skills and Qualifications:
- Current Delaware Special Education Teaching license (required)
- Prior experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in a self-contained or autism-specific classroom setting
- Strong understanding of adapting curriculum and differentiated instruction for diverse learners
- Demonstrated knowledge of positive behavior supports and effective classroom management techniques
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with families, paraprofessionals, and support staff
- Ability to provide a PDF of your teaching license and an up-to-date resume with your application
- Willingness to complete state-mandated CBC fingerprinting at your own expense
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction to elementary students with autism in accordance with each student's IEP
- Create a supportive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Develop appropriate academic, social, and life skills activities tailored to individual needs
- Work closely with instructional assistants and related service providers
- Monitor student progress and participate in IEP meetings and parent conferences as needed
- Maintain accurate records and ensure timely communication with stakeholders
