Job Description

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current Delaware Special Education Teaching license (required)
  • Prior experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in a self-contained or autism-specific classroom setting
  • Strong understanding of adapting curriculum and differentiated instruction for diverse learners
  • Demonstrated knowledge of positive behavior supports and effective classroom management techniques
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with families, paraprofessionals, and support staff
  • Ability to provide a PDF of your teaching license and an up-to-date resume with your application
  • Willingness to complete state-mandated CBC fingerprinting at your own expense

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction to elementary students with autism in accordance with each student's IEP
  • Create a supportive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Develop appropriate academic, social, and life skills activities tailored to individual needs
  • Work closely with instructional assistants and related service providers
  • Monitor student progress and participate in IEP meetings and parent conferences as needed
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely communication with stakeholders
