Make a meaningful impact as a contract Special Education Teacher within a dedicated school team in western Massachusetts. This full-time opportunity focuses on Substantially Separate Classrooms, with assignments available for both K-1st and 3rd-5th grade settings. Youll work with a small group of students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities, some of whom are non-verbal, on the autism spectrum, and require varying levels of support, including toileting assistance. RBT support staff are present in some classrooms to collaborate in providing exceptional care and instruction.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education licensure or certification
- Experience with Substantially Separate Classrooms strongly preferred
- Background in working with students who have severe disabilitiesboth cognitive and physical
- Skilled in delivering specially designed instruction and implementing IEPs
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) experience desirable
- Able to provide toileting assistance and physical support as needed
- Comfortable supporting students across a range of communication abilities, including non-verbal learners
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualized, evidence-based instruction to students with significant needs
- Collaborate with fellow educators, paraprofessionals, RBTs, and related service providers
- Implement student IEPs, collect data, and monitor progress
- Support activities of daily living for students, including toileting
- Foster an inclusive, structured, and supportive classroom environment for all learners
- Communicate regularly with families and teams regarding student growth and needs
