Take on an impactful contract role supporting students growth and success as a Special Education Teacher in a Social Emotional Behavioral classroom for grades 3-5. Located near West Hartford, CT, this full-time opportunity offers a rewarding experience working in a single school setting with a dedicated support team. The position runs ASAP through 6/13/2026, with an additional short-term period from 9/1/2026 to 10/15/2026, allowing you to make meaningful connections and see the difference you make.
What were looking for:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Teacher license (CT SPED)
- Direct experience with social-emotional and behavioral support in elementary settings preferred
- Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to inclusive and restorative practices
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and support in a specialized classroom designed for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs (grades 3-5)
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Employ responsive teaching strategies that support regulation, skill-building, and academic growth
- Collaborate with school counselors, psychologists, and support staff to address student needs holistically
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, offering progress updates and resources
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and progress reports as required
