Job Description

Take the next step in your special education career by supporting a small, diverse group of students with significant needs in an Intensive Resource Room setting. This full-time contract opportunity provides the chance to work closely with students in grades 1st through 6th who benefit from highly individualized support and instructional strategies.

Your classroom will include six students with a range of abilities, from Down syndrome to non-verbal autism requiring AAC devices for communication. Youll be an integral part of a collaborative team, working closely with paraprofessionals who assist with routines and self-care, while related service professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and School Social Workers push in and pull out to address targeted needs.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Colorado Special Education Teacher License (REQUIRED)
  • Experience or strong interest in working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Ability to implement individualized educational plans and adapt curriculum
  • Comfort supporting students using AAC devices
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility, patience, and compassion when working with diverse learners

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction and behavioral interventions in a self-contained resource room
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals and service providers to support students throughout the day
  • Track student progress, complete necessary documentation, and contribute to IEP meetings
  • Nurture a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment
  • Provide differentiated instruction to accommodate various learning and communication needs
  • Communicate regularly with families and team members regarding student progress
