Job Description
This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher to work with an intensive autism classroom serving students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The position is contract-based and located in Fairfield, CT. Ideal candidates will have experience in special education settings, specifically supporting students with autism in elementary age groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with autism
- Deliver specialized instruction to students ages K-5 with intensive needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists, counselors, and administrators
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies as needed
- Maintain clear communication with families regarding student development and classroom activities
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working in an intensive autism classroom setting preferred
- Strong understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques and autism-related strategies
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with education teams
- Effective communication skills with students, families, and staff
Location: Fairfield, CT
Compensation: Starting pay of $40+ per hour, reflective of experience and qualifications.
