Job Description

A Rhode Island elementary school is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide support for a third-grade classroom on a long-term leave replacement basis, from mid-September through December. This full-time assignment offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a critical period, working Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the diverse needs of third-grade students in a collaborative classroom environment.
  • Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
  • Work closely with paraprofessionals and support staff provided by the district.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents, teachers, and administration.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages student growth and engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Rhode Island Special Education Teacher Certification is required.
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged students, preferably third grade.
  • Strong knowledge of special education best practices and state regulations.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Location:

  • Elementary school in Portsmouth, RI.

Assignment Details:

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Duration: Mid-September through December (maternity leave coverage).
  • Support provided by district paraprofessionals to assist with classroom needs.
