Job Description

A part-time Virtual Special Education Teacher is needed to support students in grades 6-12 and 6-8 STEM programs through a Virtual Academy. This position is ideal for a dedicated teacher with North Carolina Special Education credentials who is passionate about providing individualized support in an innovative, online learning environment. The role begins as soon as possible for the 2025-2026 school year and continues through June 11, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to middle and high school students in a virtual setting
  • Manage a caseload of students requiring resource support for both core subjects and STEM courses
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Collaborate with virtual academy staff and families to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies
  • Provide one hour per week of planning to prepare instructional materials and assessments

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid North Carolina Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience working with middle and high school students in special education
  • Ability to effectively deliver virtual instruction and utilize digital tools for student engagement
  • Strong communication and organizational skills for remote collaboration
  • Commitment to supporting diverse learners in an inclusive, supportive environment

Location: Virtual work supporting students in North Carolina
Schedule: Part-time, Monday through Friday, 25 instructional hours plus one hour planning weekly
