Job Description

Embark on an impactful opportunity as a Special Education Teacher within a dynamic K-2 cross-categorical classroom for the upcoming school year. This contract position offers a chance to make a lasting difference while supporting students through a maternity leave assignment, extending through Christmas break. You'll work closely with young learners in a warm, collaborative educational environment, with resources and support staff available.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Special Education Teacher certification is required
  • Previous experience with K-2 or early elementary students preferred
  • Understanding of cross-categorical instruction and IEP processes
  • Comfortable utilizing assistive technology; familiarity with AAC iPad devices and TD Snap platform is a plus
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to create inclusive, nurturing environments for all students

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction for a diverse group of learners, adapting strategies as needed to meet individual IEP goals
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other staff to ensure student success
  • Integrate AAC devices into the classroom to enhance communication skills
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings as required
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student growth
  • Adhere to daily schedule: 8:30am 3:30pm, with arrival at least 10 minutes early and departure 10 minutes after end of day; 1/2 days dismiss at 11:30am
  • Enjoy a 50-minute daily prep period and a duty-free, uninterrupted 40-minute lunch break
