This full-time, onsite contract position is designed for an experienced Special Education Teacher who holds ASD certification and is eager to make a difference in the lives of K-1st grade students.
In this dynamic role, you'll create positive learning experiences for students on the autism spectrum, collaborating with colleagues and developing customized strategies to support individual needs. Your expertise will help foster communication, socialization, and academic growth within a caring and inclusive environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Special Education License
- ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) teaching certification required
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged children, particularly in autism-focused settings, is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and best practices in special education
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with autism
- Utilize evidence-based strategies and interventions for students on the spectrum
- Foster a supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and skill building
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
- Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments as needed
- Cultivate positive relationships with students and families to support learning and growth
