Job Description
A full-time opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher in Valparaiso, IN, focused on working with young students aged 3-5 in a severe classroom setting. This role involves supporting students with behavioral, emotional/social, and learning disabilities, alongside additional staff resources to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with severe disabilities
- Collaborating with support staff to develop and implement behavior support plans and emotional/social skill development
- Monitoring and documenting student progress and adjusting instructional strategies as needed
- Creating a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and development
- Communicating regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams to support student success
Qualifications:
- Valid Indiana Special Education teaching license with an intense/severe endorsement
- Alternatively, candidates holding an Illinois Special Education License along with LBS1 Certification will be considered
- Experience working with young children (ages 3-5) with severe behavioral and learning needs is preferred
