Job Description

Make a meaningful difference as a contract Special Education Teacher supporting students with lower-incidence disabilities in a welcoming school environment near Uvalde, TX. As the Functional/Life Skills teacher, you will maintain a manageable caseload of 5-10 students across various age groups, enabling you to deliver truly individualized programming. Your primary focus will be on addressing IEP goals and cultivating student growth in functional academics, communication, daily living skills, independence, and transition planning.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Active Texas Special Education Teaching license required
  • Experience working with students with lower-incidence disabilities is preferred
  • Commitment to differentiated instruction and individualized education plans
  • Ability to collaborate with related service providers and school teams
  • Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tailored lesson plans aligned with IEPs targeting functional and life skills
  • Teach across various age groups with sensitivity to diverse developmental needs
  • Foster student independence and prepare students for successful transitions
  • Track and document progress, maintaining compliance with educational standards and regulations
  • Partner with families and multidisciplinary teams to support holistic student development
