Job Description
Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a supportive school district in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a self-contained classroom position serving elementary students with developmental delays and a variety of disabilities.
Position Details
- Location: Tuscaloosa, AL 35401
- School Year: August 10, 2026 - May 27, 2027
- Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
Caseload
- Self-contained classroom
- Approximately 12 students
- 2 paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom
- Majority of students have developmental delays
- Some students may exhibit behavioral challenges, including aggression during de-escalation situations
- Students with a wide range of disabilities
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction aligned with student IEPs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, families, and school staff
- Support students academically, behaviorally, and socially
- Maintain required documentation and progress monitoring
Requirements
- Active Alabama Special Education Teaching License
- Appropriate endorsement for the age group served (PreK-5 or K-12)
- Fingerprinting required if Alabama prints are more than 5 years old
