Title: Special Education Teacher
Employment Type: Full-time | Contract | 20262027 School Year
Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week (MondayFriday, onsite)
Job Description:
An excellent opportunity is available for Special Education Teachers supporting students in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Multiple full-time positions are available for the upcoming school year, with the majority of openings in PreK through elementary self-contained or collaborative classrooms. Additional opportunities are available for grades 48 and 7th grade collaborative settings. Teachers will support students with a full range of disabilities and collaborate with school teams to provide individualized instruction and promote student success.
Qualifications:
- Active Alabama Special Education Teacher certification with the appropriate age-group endorsement, such as PreK5 or K12
- Experience working in self-contained and/or collaborative special education classrooms preferred
- Experience supporting students with a variety of disabilities
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction in self-contained or collaborative classroom settings
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service providers
- Maintain accurate and compliant special education documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings as needed
