Job Description
A Special Education Teacher position is available for the 2025-2026 school year, offering an opportunity to work within a supportive school environment in Troy, NY. This contract role involves providing specialized instruction and support to a caseload of 20 students, ensuring tailored educational strategies meet each student's individual needs.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized educational instruction and support to students with disabilities.
- Oversee assessments and evaluations to monitor student progress and determine appropriate interventions.
- Attend and actively participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
- Collaborate with school staff and families to develop and implement effective educational plans.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and services.
- Provide itinerant services across the district, with paid travel time to accommodate multiple school locations.
Qualifications:
- Valid New York State teaching license with certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students requiring specialized educational support.
- Strong understanding of assessment tools, evaluation procedures, and IEP development.
- Ability to manage and maintain a caseload of diverse student needs.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Flexibility to travel between schools within the district.
