Job Description
Make a difference in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive school setting. This contract opportunity offers valuable hands-on experience, working closely with students with a range of unique needs at one convenient location. Multiple positions are available, including roles supporting middle school students with emotional disabilities, middle school students with functional/life skills needs, and elementary students with emotional disabilities. This is an onsite, full-time role ensuring you can form meaningful connections and offer consistent support.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Kansas Special Education Certification required
- Experience working with students with emotional disabilities and/or functional/life skills (preferred)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for teaming with staff, administrators, and families
- Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and evaluations
- Ability to create a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment
- Commitment to fostering inclusion and maximizing student success
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with school staff to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Create lesson plans tailored to student goals and abilities
- Employ a variety of instructional strategies to support learning and skill development
- Adapt classroom materials and routines to meet the diverse needs of students
- Promote social, emotional, and academic growth
- Communicate regularly with caregivers and school professionals regarding student progress
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation as required
