Step into a meaningful contract position supporting a young learner as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting near Tonawanda, NY. In this rewarding opportunity, you will provide individualized support to a 2nd grade student in an onsite, 1:1 configuration, collaborating closely with school staff to tailor educational strategies for optimal growth.
What Youll Need:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Education (Science focus preferred)
- Active New York State teaching certificate in Special Education
- Special Education certification valid for 2nd grade or all grades
- Familiarity with state and district guidelines regarding special education services
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with families and staff
What Youll Do:
- Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction and support to a 2nd grade student one-on-one
- Collaborate with school personnel to implement and adjust Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and instructional plans
- Track and report student progress, maintaining thorough documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
- Encourage social, emotional, and academic growth using evidence-based teaching practices
- Effectively communicate with parents and school administrators, offering regular updates and insights
Key Details:
- Onsite position, Monday through Friday
- Flexible scheduling: choose either 3 hours per day or full-day (up to 7.5 hours)
- Contract role through August
- Supportive work environment with a single school location
