Job Title: Part-Time Remote Special Education Tutor
Work Location: New York (Remote)
Job Type: Part-Time (15-30 hours per week)
Overview:
We are looking for a Part-Time Remote Special Education Tutor to provide flexible tutoring services primarily in general education subjects to students in New York. This role is designed for an educator who excels in adapting teaching methods to accommodate the diverse needs of students with special needs, facilitating their success in a general education setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tutoring: Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in general education subjects, adapting instructional methods to fit the unique learning needs of each student.
- Individualized Support: Work within the parameters of each students IEP to ensure educational objectives are met, focusing on areas that require additional support.
- Flexible Scheduling: Coordinate with students and families to arrange tutoring sessions during times that best fit their schedules, maintaining flexibility to accommodate changing needs.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student progress, adjust teaching strategies as needed, and provide feedback to students and families.
- Collaborative Communication: Maintain consistent communication with parents, teachers, and school administrators to align on student progress and any adjustments to educational strategies.
- Resource Development: Develop and utilize educational materials that support learning and engagement during tutoring sessions.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a closely related field.
- Certification: Valid New York teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
- Experience: At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience, with a preference for experience in special education and general education subjects.
- Skills: Proficiency with digital educational tools and platforms; strong organizational and communication skills.
- Personal Attributes: Flexible, patient, and creative in teaching approaches; committed to the principles of inclusive education.
Work Environment:
- This position is entirely remote, requiring a professional home office setup conducive to conducting interactive and engaging tutoring sessions.
- Hours per week will range from 15 to 30, with the need for adaptability in scheduling based on student availability.
