Job Description

A full-time special education teaching opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide telehealth services in Greenville, NC. This contract role supports approximately 35 students, ranging in age according to the district's population, within a dedicated educational setting for visually impaired learners. The assignment runs from mid-August through early June, aligning with the academic calendar.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering tailored telehealth instruction and support to students with visual impairments
  • Implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet state and district standards
  • Collaborating with educational staff and families to optimize student progress
  • Monitoring student development and adapting methods accordingly
  • Maintaining accurate documentation related to student performance and services provided

Qualifications and experience preferred:

  • Valid North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure
  • Proficiency in telehealth instructional methods and technologies
  • Experience managing caseloads of similar size and complexity
  • Strong communication skills for virtual and in-person collaboration
  • Ability to work independently and maintain compliance with district policies

This position operates onsite with flexibility in interview scheduling, offering a responsive hiring process and potential for quick decision-making. While supervision support is not provided, several contractors currently work within the district, fostering a collaborative professional environment. Onboarding processes, including fingerprints and training, are arranged as per district requirements to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
