Job Description

A Special Education Teacher position is available to provide virtual instruction and case management for students in private day school programs serving exceptional children. This role supports an established ECATS program with a focus on comprehensive special education services.

Key responsibilities include managing a caseload of students, delivering direct instruction as needed, and collaborating closely with the special education team to promote student success. This position requires leading individualized education program (IEP) meetings, ensuring compliance with all IEP requirements, completing thorough assessments, and reporting directly to the Director of Special Education. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities are essential.

Requirements and Desired Experience:

  • Fully licensed Special Education Teacher in Virginia
  • Proven experience as a case manager with a solid background in special education services
  • Ability to independently lead IEP meetings and complete assessments accurately and within deadlines
  • Familiarity with virtual teaching methods and telehealth platforms preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with educational teams and families

Position Details:

  • Location: Chesapeake, VA (virtual work supporting schools within Norfolk City Public Schools)
  • Contract duration: August 3, 2026 June 4, 2027
  • Average workweek: 37.5 hours
  • Supporting age group within private day school settings specialized for exceptional children

Compliance and supervision support will be provided by designated paraprofessionals or related staff as required. Candidates must be capable of assuming full responsibility from day one with minimal supervision.
