Make an impact supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher with an emphasis on autism support. This full-time, onsite position is suited for professionals passionate about helping young learners in K-1st grades develop essential academic and social skills in a supportive environment. Youll collaborate with faculty and families to create a positive, nurturing space where children with Autism Spectrum Disorder can thrive.
Key qualifications:
- Current Michigan Special Education Teacher certification
- Valid ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) endorsement
- Experience working with elementary students, preferably in grades K-1
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and instructional strategies for students with autism
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Primary responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with autism in K-1st grades
- Implement IEP goals, track student progress, and communicate growth to families and team members
- Foster a safe classroom environment that encourages social, academic, and emotional growth
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Modify curriculum and support materials to accommodate different learning styles
- Encourage inclusion and promote positive behavior interventions
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide insights regarding students strengths and areas for growth
