Job Description

Key qualifications:

  • Current Michigan Special Education Teacher certification
  • Valid ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) endorsement
  • Experience working with elementary students, preferably in grades K-1
  • Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and instructional strategies for students with autism
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with autism in K-1st grades
  • Implement IEP goals, track student progress, and communicate growth to families and team members
  • Foster a safe classroom environment that encourages social, academic, and emotional growth
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Modify curriculum and support materials to accommodate different learning styles
  • Encourage inclusion and promote positive behavior interventions
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide insights regarding students strengths and areas for growth
