Job Description
Empower student success and make a meaningful contribution as a Special Education Teacher supporting a resource classroom for the 2026-2027 school year. This onsite, full-time contract opportunity is set in a welcoming educational environment near Tacoma, WA, and offers a chance to work closely with a diverse group of learners.
In this role, you will collaborate with a dedicated school team and support approximately 30 students by facilitating individualized and small-group instruction. Your expertise will ensure every student has access to the tools and strategies they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current Special Education (SPED) License valid in Washington State
- ESA (Educational Staff Associate) Certification
- Previous experience in a K-12 resource classroom setting is beneficial
- Ability to design and implement IEPs, monitor student progress, and modify instruction as needed
- Strong communication skills for partnering with families, colleagues, and related service providers
- Flexibility, organization, and dedication to fostering inclusive education
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, implement, and adapt lesson plans that support individualized learning goals
- Maintain thorough documentation, including tracking student progress and maintaining compliance with IEP requirements
- Partner with general education teachers and staff to integrate inclusive practices
- Communicate consistently with parents/guardians regarding student achievement and needs
- Foster a safe, supportive, and positive learning atmosphere for all students
